Christmas is Coming

semi-overcast 24 °C

Over the last few weeks I've been to a few Christmas events in the City. It's so weird to see all the lights and decorations and even Santa in the heat. It doesn't feel christmasy at all.

The first was at Martin Place, the centre of the business district in Sydney and where my first job here was. Every year they have a big ceremony to switch the huge Christmas tree lights on. We all met there straight from work to see Santa arrive on his sleigh with the Mayor. School kids sang carols on stage and then there were fireworks. The whole thing lasted a couple of hours, then all down to the pub.

The second was at Darling Harbour. A music concert, fireworks and switching on the brightest Christmas tree in the Southern Hemisphere...which wasn't particularly bright!
